Caret

A cursor symbol (^) that indicates where the Newton will insert text written, printed, or typed by the user. When tapped, a caret picker is displayed allowing the user to insert punctuation marks, spaces, paragraph breaks, or other special characters. The caret is only used in Newton OS 2.0 and later. Earlier versions of Newton OS use a blinking line cursor to indicate where new text will be inserted.

A caret shaped gesture can be used to indicate where a new insertion point should be placed when editing text.
