RS-422

A standard for serial communication between computers and peripheral devices that features increased data transfer rates and cabling distance than RS-232. Devices supporting the RS-422 standard are outfitted with DB-25 or DC-37 connectors. An RS-232 compatible version of RS-422 using a [Mini-DIN}(/terms/mini-din) connector was included on Mac OS computers and peripherals, eventually being replaced by USB.
